Voxtreme was formed in 2001 to meet the demands of a changing webhosting industry. Voxtremes founders were internet professionals who had previously been involved in various web development and programming roles. They recognised the need for the ability to host multiple websites for one monthly fee and only limited options were available to do this, with none offering the level of management that internet professionals required..Voxtreme set out to meet this requirement for cost-effective multiple domain hosting that was user friend yet powerful, with a main business philosophy based around customer service. Voxtreme was born in December 2001 after months of hard planning and from inception as grown steadily, going from strength to strength bringing us to present day.
Voxtreme merged with UK-based Otago Internet, a regional ISP based in historic Lincolnshire, United Kingdom in October 2003. Both companies felt that being able to share resources had massive benefits and would allow both companies to succeed to newer heights.
Where is Voxtreme today? 2 years after inception, Voxtreme has over 30 servers with approaching 1000 clients from many countries around the world. Voxtreme is still run with customer service as the main business philosophy and this will remain key in as Voxtreme continues to grow.
Voxtreme/Otago Internet are profitable and cashflow positive.
Technology
We employ the the latest WebHostManager and Cpanel software suite combined to provide a web-based interface for total account management. WebHostManager is used to create, modify and delete client accounts in realtime, as well as monitoring diskspace and bandwidth usage.
Cpanel is used to manage all the client-side aspects of account management such as the set-up of multiple email addresses, FTP accounts, MySQL databases and the viewing of website visitor statistics.
Hardware
Voxtreme fully understands the need for high performance hardware to serve websites. As a result, we use only the best hardware available. We use the tried and tested combination of dual Intel servers - either dual Pentium III Tualatins or dual Intel Xeon processors. Servers are equipped with 1GB of RAM as a minimum and use multiple IDE/SCSI drives for performance and data security.
Servers run RedHat Linux using custom kernels tweaked for performance and security with a heavily optimised Apache web server providing a superb platform to serve websites from. Servers are monitered carefully with regular manual security and performance checks. Redundant automatic monitoring systems are employed to notify us of any problems within 30 seconds of the problem occuring.
Network
We utilize NACs Parsipanny, NJ location to house and host our severs. NAC is one of the leading datacenters in the US, with a superb network spanning accrossAmerica with direct connections to Europe, Australia and Asia.
