Sandwich.Net is a small Internet service provider, based in Carlsbad, California. The domain name sandwich.org was registered in 1997, for use by a single machine hosting Web sites and e-mail for James Renken (the administrator) and a few friends. The domain name was chosen as a tribute to Douglas Adams and Monty Python, with the server named herring.sandwich.org.
Later in 1997, sandwich.net was registered, and has been operating as a hobbyist site and small business ever since.
