On November 8, 2007, optical networking system provider Infinera (infinera.com) has named Minoo Mortazavi the newly created VP of strategic materials. The appointment will support Infinera's strategic focus on building an optimized supply chain that supports scaling efficiency, reducing costs and creates even greater flexibility through the value chain.
Before joining Infinera, Mortazavi served as VP of global materials at JDS Uniphase, where she played a key role in a program of restructuring manufacturing and shifting production to low-cost regions. Before that, she was at worldwide contract manufacturing services provider Solectron where she helped the company build the materials and supply chain processes.
Infinera has expanded its manufacturing operations significantly since launching the first Infinera digital optical network three years ago. In Q3 of 2007, Infinera recorded invoiced shipments of $80.4 million, up 91 percent from the year-earlier period. Mortazavi will help build a manufacturing and supply base, enabling Infinera to reach the next level of growth.
"Minoo is a great addition to our team and will help us as we scale our world-class optical networking business to meet all our customers’ needs worldwide," commented Tom Fallon, Infinera chief operating officer.
