On October 31, 2007, managed hosting provider NaviSite (navisite.com) has been selected by open source Web applications provider Sapotek (sapotek.com) to enable delivery of its online desktop in a software as a service model.
Sapotek is a member of the Sun Startup Essentials program (sun.com/startups), in which NaviSite has partnered with Sun Microsystems to enable startups to develop and deploy their software applications in an on-demand environment hosted and supported by NaviSite on Sun’s platform of products. For its online desktop offering, Sapotek has selected NaviSite's Web hosting solution running on the Solaris operating system.
Sapotek was seeking a service provider that could support 10,000 to 20,000 users concurrently, and NaviSite will be providing SaaS enablement services that can rapidly scale to meet the increasing global demand of Sapotek's desktop software. The solution also enables Sapotek to better manage its costs, expand the service-level commitment to its end-users and easily deploy additional solutions in the future.
"We were thrilled about the opportunity to put the NaviSite and Sun collaboration to work for Sapotek," said James Fanella, senior VP of business development for NaviSite. "We are pleased that the cost-effectiveness and scalability of our solution on the Solaris OS is such a strong match for supporting Sapotek’s global growth and rising demand."
