On October 26, 2007, web analytics firm Netcraft (netcraft.com) announced that it is offering a monthly Netcraft Secure Server Survey to examine the use of encrypted transactions on the Web through extensive automated exploration of the Internet. The survey is targeted towards certificate authorities, server and hardware accelerator vendors, Web hosting providers, financial institutions and anyone tracking the growth of e-commerce and encrypted communications on the Internet.
Each month, the survey provides timely answers to questions looking at the number of companies doing encrypted transactions over the Internet and who they are, which server software they use, which authority they obtain their certificates from, who hosts their server and the overall growth rate of SSL sites on the Internet.
Interested companies can purchase an annual subscription for £1200, or approximately US $2500. The monthly analysis will include noteworthy highlights and related news, SSL server market share, certificate authority market share, top hosting providers of SSL sites and a geographical analysis looking at per-country certificate authorities, Web host, server and operating system share. The report also includes detailed timeline trends, including historical data for the past three years.
