On October 18, 2007, managed hosting provider Layered Technologies (layeredtech.com) publicized its collaboration with Sun Microsystems (sun.com) to offer Sun Startup Essentials members the ability to rapidly deploy on-demand hosting and utility computing solutions supported by Layered Technologies on Sun's platform of products and the Solaris 10 operating system.

The company will now provide Unix-based Solaris OS as part of its comprehensive, world-class hosted dedicated server offerings. The Solaris 10 OS server hosted solutions are designed for small, medium and enterprise customers, delivering an optimum blend of reliability, affordability and flexibility, similar to Layered Technologies’ other server packages.
