The company responded immediately to the incident by conducting a comprehensive security audit of internal processes procedures. Since it is uncertain which accounts may have been affected, Layered Technologies said that it is in customers' best interest to take the necessary steps of contacting their clients regarding this issue.

The company has advised all its clients to change the login information for all host details they have submitted in the past couple years, which includes Cerberus, Modernbill, Encompass and all servers that clients own and operate with LT and all services that may have submitted passwords in the past for such as Webmail, Remote Desktop, SSH, MySQL, cPanel WHM, FTP Backup storage or similar services. The company said clients should use the 'reset password' features on all LT tools to reset and send a new random password.

The company "is committed to maintaining an ongoing dialogue with all of our clients about Internet security and the steps Layered Technologies is taking to protect its clients," Layered Technologies wrote in an email it sent out to all its clients. LT has launched a series of initiatives to enhance and to protect its client information, with some of the steps being immediately implemented and others put into place as needed.
