Online domain marketplace Sedo (sedo.com) pronounced that lately over 50 domain names were sold at Sedo's Live Auction at the Domainvermarkter Forum in Hamburg, Germany. The three-hour auction, powered by Sedo, reached $360,400 in sales. There were 48 bids placed among the 120 present participants. Sedo also ran a live chat client alongside the auction that allowed for an additional 30 people who were not physically present at the conference to bid.
Some noteworthy sales from the auction included ärzte.de ("doctors" in German) for $77,000, reisebüro.de and reise-büro.de ("travel agencies" in German) for $70,000, hawaii.de for $30,000, and weiber.de ("skirts" in German) for $26,000.
Sedo, an acronym for "Search Engine for Domain Offers", offers an online marketplace where users are able to buy and sell domain names and Web sites. The Cambridge, Massachusetts company has accumulated the world's largest database of domain names, with more than 8 million listed for sale by their owners.
