On September 17, 2007, utility computing platform developer 3Tera (3tera.com) has entered into an agreement with Emergent Game Technologies (emergent.net) to integrate grid computing technologies into its next generation gaming platform. The Emergent Platform offers developers the tools, technologies and services they need to develop great games and reduce the risk in deploying and running them online.
The Emergent Platform combines hardware and software to provide studios with a suite of pre-integrated and tested solutions to get to market faster. 3Tera's AppLogic grid computing technology was selected to meet the scale and performance needs of the high-demand online games industry.
"As players demand richer and more interactive experiences, the infrastructure required to power new games is becoming extremely complex and expensive. We are thrilled to be working with Emergent to bring utility computing into the online gaming industry," claimed Barry X Lynn, chairman and CEO of 3tera.
The Emergent Platform is a sole-source provider designed for the games industry that manages all of the hardware, infrastructure, systems and components underlying the game, providing developers an advantage in bringing its unique offerings to market.
