3Tera CEO Joins Tier 1 Panel

By Trevor Blunt - September 18th, 2007

Utility computing platform developer 3Tera (3tera.com) publicized on September 14, 2007 that its chairman and CEO will be participating in a panel discussion at Tier 1's Hosting Transformation Summit (hsvsummit.com) next week at The Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The panel is scheduled to take place on September 18, starting at 3:30 p.m. PDT.

Barry X Lynn will be part of the panel discussion, "Utility and Grid Computing: Products, Enabling Technologies or Distractions", and will be joined by Michael Platner, CEO of Layered Technologies and Brian Hurley, CEO of Liquid Computing. John Abbott, chief analyst and research director of systems at The 451 Group covering the systems and storage industries will moderate the panel.

Attendees will learn about emerging technologies, strategies and opportunities relevant to these activities, including 'gridonomics', virtualization, SOA, security and open source as well as social, cultural and organizational issues. The panel will examine grid computing offerings and their impact on the hosting market. As grids mature, they are being used to support a range of strategic activities. There will be a particular focus on enterprise and public utilities.
